The Minnesota State Fair board of managers approved the admission increase at their January meeting.
Admission for adults 13-64 will be $14; children 5-12 and seniors 65 and over will be admitted for $12; kids under five are free. Advance tickets for all ages are $11. The approved admission fees represent an increase of $1 in all categories and took effect Feb. 1. State Fair General Manager Jerry Hammer cited rising costs in fair production, guest services and facilities upkeep for the increase.The State Fair admission Discount Days will still offered throughout the Fair such as Senior Day, Military Day, Thrifty Thursdays and others listed on the State Fair admission webpage.
The State Fair is financially self-supporting and receives no government aid of any kind.
The 2017 Minnesota State Fair runs Aug. 24-Labor Day, Sept. 4.
